Hamilton Robson Shines Bright: Finalists in UK IT Industry Awards with Chloe, Our Star Software Engineer

Oonagh Arkins

The team at Hamilton Robson are thrilled to share that we have successfully secured a coveted spot as a finalist for the ‘Accessible Technology Innovation of the Year’ award at the UK IT Industry Awards, 2023. We celebrate this feat alongside our very own star Software Engineer, Chloe McAteer who is also a finalist for the ‘Engineer of the Year’ award. This recognition marks a significant achievement for our commitments to excellence in the technology sector.

The IT Industry awards stands as one of the most prestigious events in the UK technology sector, celebrating excellence and innovation of individuals and organisations across the industry. Therefore, we are honoured to be among those distinguished finalists.

Our journey towards this recognition was with the continued development of our platform, Marvel which essentially enables rapid development and management of bespoke, media rich visitor attraction apps. While accessibility is a key design strength across Hamilton Robson software, we worked closely with Crumlin Road Goal to integrate British Sign Language (BSL) throughout their premium audio tour bringing the experience to the next level for the deaf community. The need for accessible technology is growing in the UK, so when we had the chance to create an app that integrated assistive videos, we were ready for the challenge. This integration allows users who communicate using BSL to have a more inclusive and immersive experience during the tour. It is a significant advancement in the field of tour apps and showcases a leading-edge approach to enhancing accessibility.

Manager, Phelim Devlin, comments, “At Crumlin Road Gaol we want to make a tourist attraction that is accessible to all. We see real value in committing to such projects that use modern technology to enhance accessibility. It is our hope that our efforts not only make the Gaol a more welcoming place but also makes Northern Ireland more accessible as well.”

Additionally, we are pleased to be sharing this achievement alongside our software engineer, Chloe, who has also earned a place as a finalist. We are thrilled she is being recognised for her efforts within the technology sector. Chloe is significantly involved with tech communities and projects in Northern Ireland and the UK, including Women Who Code. Her drive and innovative approach have and will continue to add value to Hamilton Robson’s growth in the tech industry, making her a standout finalist!

The awards celebrate the incredible accomplishments of a variety of companies in the technology sector throughout the UK. However, we are proud to be the only finalist with its HQ based in Northern Ireland. An incredible achievement for the software team at Hamilton Robson.

We hope you stay tuned as the event ceremony rolls out on November 8th, where the winners of each award will be chosen based on more than just the strength of a written submission. Judging will take place 1-2-1 by multiple panels of independent IT leaders, so winners can celebrate their genuine success.
