The SSE Arena is Belfast's Premier Entertainment Venue, hosting major concerts, sporting events and shows. As part of a long-term engagement with parent company Odyssey Trust, Hamilton Robson was tasked to enliven the multiple entrances to the venue, wayfinding in the main pavilion, and signage in the bars, as well as renewing the 160 sqm of P3 Arena display to show live Ice Hockey games.
The goal was to make it easier for visitors to navigate the space and stay informed about events and promotions. Within the arena’s main bar area, they wanted to do something different to the norm and in keeping with the stylish design of the upgraded bar.
The brief for the bar was to use LED to make a visual impact on every visitor no matter their position. The captivating curved LED surround became the centre of focus, with the ability to capture a ‘moment’ on screen during sports games and events. It had to be capable of showing fine detail of products and messages, so we selected a high resolution Unilumin P1.9led panel to create the ribbon wraparound throughout the space.
Large T-shaped LED screens were placed around the various entrances to the arena. Designed to generate buzz about the event, give info and directional info layered on top. Mapped area in a custom shape to encapsulate the pillar into signage itself, to draw people into the arena.
We selected the right signage options for the customer throughout the public areas, a variety of large-scale specialist LED solutions were perfect for the customer’s needs.
They were delighted with the different LED solutions designed and installed across the arena and the flexibility it affords them. In the stylish and contemporary setting of the main arena bar, the curved LED provides a striking and informative focal point. Large scale LEDs are embedded into the arena itself to make fact-finding effortless for patrons.
Each of the LED screens is designed to be regularly and easily updated with video and graphics for different events and audiences. This provides a reusable and cost-effective solution for wayfinding and key wayfinding and marketing messages.
