Game of Thrones Studio Tour App

Visitor App

App Development
Hamilton Robson developed a visitor tour guide app for the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, integrating ticketing and digital guides including multi language via React Native for Android and iOS. Augmented reality and premium content enriched visitor experiences, boosting early downloads with projected growth during peak tourism.
The Challenge

The brand-new Game of Thrones Studio Tour invites fans and visitors to walk through iconic original sets and explore the artistry responsible for bringing Game of Thrones to life. The brief was to provide a ticketing function and digital guide through an app, removing the need for paper, and giving the ability to offer add-ons to customers.

Our Solution

Hamilton Robson took an Agile approach to the app build, completing user research, service design workshops and road mapping. Custom technology allowed developers to integrate the React Native development framework used for android and iOS. The team built a modern cloud infrastructure to integrate legacy systems and deliver an effective e-ticketing flow within the studio tour app.

The map uses custom technology to help people understand where they are within the studio tour and access additional services. The same tech is used to support the audio guide by giving the visitor rich, contextual information about what they are looking at. Guests are prompted to use their cameras to access augmented reality content.

The Impact

The guide app simplified the user experience and removed the need for paper, but it also went beyond this, enhancing the visitor experience through the premium content, augmented reality, and the potential for long-term user engagement. Download numbers clearly indicated early success and are projected to increase in the higher tourism months.
