Join us as we sit down with Matt Pengelly, an AV Technician at Hamilton Robson as he takes us through his journey with us over the past 10 years.
I first started working with Hamilton Robson back in 2016. Within 6 months and passing my probation, I was offered a full-time role – apparently, I was doing something right.
For me, it was the excitement of being part of a company that was clearly going places. The opportunities to grow my skills across so many different areas, while working with some of the biggest brands in the world, was huge.
Plus, I was “the face of the company in London”… a role I was more than happy to accept. 😉
I very quickly found myself travelling around London and beyond providing AV support to clients on site and remotely. The service desk team grew and there was an opportunity for me to take on a full time AV Tech support role with Twitter, one of our customers. I enjoy these long term engagements as I get to really become part of the client’s team and build strong relationships there.
I’m currently working on another really exciting technology company client site – in amongst my callouts around European sites. The opportunities were there from the start and there are even more now as we expand in London.
One memory that stands out is the very first company meetup in London. It was brilliant seeing the whole team together, and watching the company’s presence grow on this side of the water. But the highlight has to be the night out afterwards. It ended up as one of those brilliant company nights out, the kind where laughter (craic as my Irish colleagues say) flowed, and everyone forgets about job titles for a while.
Looking ahead, it still feels like we’re only getting started. The company has grown massively since those early days, but the energy that pulled me in back in 2016 is very much still there. There’s the same appetite to push forward, take on bigger challenges, and keep raising the bar.
I’m excited to see where Hamilton Robson goes next and proud to have played a small part in the journey so far.
