As a career path without a specific starting point or pathway sometimes careers in Audio Visual technology aren’t always an obvious choice for students starting out their career. Hamilton Robson provides a wide range of roles for our apprentice to try out and choose to build a career in creative technology. All of the roles in our AV teams that you’ll try out during the apprenticeship have this in common: they are hands on.

What you’ll learn:

  • You’ll get to grips with a variety of hardware and software, programming and networking.
  • You’ll learn about broadcast technology, live streaming, audio engineering and much more.
  • Learn the basics of AV design schematics and CAD
  • Learn basics of networking
  • Learn cyber security fundamentals, Web/HTTP(S) technology
  • Get to work with a wide range of AV technologies – for example Crestron, Q-sys, NewTek, Panasonic, and develop skills associated with integrating these types of systems into a workplace

The role:

You’ll work as a junior AV technician, shadowing senior engineers in the team across a variety of roles.

  • Troubleshooting equipment and ensuring events run smoothly
  • Provide AV support for clients remotely and in person
  • Provide assistance with equipment at live events
  • Work on live client build projects and on-site maintenance
  • Work with the technical team to close tickets on site
  • Configuration of equipment operating on a network
  • Network Signaling configuration, Bandwidth identification
  • Audio / Video testing
  • Test and terminate structured cabling
  • Work with amazing creative clients – tech leaders and social media companies around the world

Our office where work will be located is in Omagh. We are currently upgrading to a brand new office premises opening soon.
